Banana Chocolate Cake

Who wants some cake? If you are looking for the perfect chocolate cake, then your search ends here 🙂
It has been quite a while that I have baked a simple everyday chocolate cake. Lately, I have been tempted towards trying out layered cakes most of the time and going towards more unusual flavors that my love for chocolate took a backseat. So, today I thought, lets try out my good old recipe for a chocolate cake.
This is a perfect everyday cake which you will end up making again and again. It requires minimal preparation, separate bowls of wet and dry ingredients, whisk them together and its done. The best part is that it turns out super moist and has the perfect crumb. You will love how fluffy the cake is but still has a body of its own, you will love how the bananas add quite a texture and flavor to it, you will love how the creamier frosting melts in the mouth and the list goes on and on.
So, here comes the reasons and tricks behind the awesomeness of this particular recipe. Since this cake is made out of oil instead of the usual butter, it turns out beautifully moist. Even though the cake uses cocoa powder instead of the usual unsweetened chocolate, the addition of warm water helps the chocolate flavor bloom and add depth to it. The next best part is the addition of banana. I think that chocolates and bananas work beautifully together and is a must-try flavor combination.
If you are a chocolate lover, make this cake. This will elevate your mood after a very bad day, take away all your stresses after a tiresome day. This will be the hero of desserts on a party table and will be a great way to end your dinner everyday.
Banana Chocolate Cake
Ingredients
For the cake:
Wet ingredients:
- 1 quantity egg
- 1/4 cup oil
- 1/4 cup milk
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1 medium banana
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
Dry ingredients:
- 1 cup flour
- 0.8 cup sugar
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp baking powder
For the frosting:
- 0.8 cup icing sugar
- 100 gms butter
- 100 gms dark chocolate
- 1 tsp vanilla essence
Instructions
For the cake:
- Pre-heat the oven to 180 degree Celsius and line a cake tin with butter paper or brush it with some oil.
- Whisk the wet ingredients and the dry ingredients separately. Sieve the dry ingredients onto another bowl. Sieving ensures that more air gets trapped and the end result is a fluffier cake.
- Combine the wet and the dry ingredients and whisk until you achieve a smooth consistency.
- Pour the batter into the cake tin and bake it for 25 mins or until a tooth pick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.
For the frosting:
- Melt the chocolate in a bowl by placing it over a saucepan of boiling water. Once melted, take it off the heat and let it cool down to room temperature.
- Using a stand or a hand mixer, beat the butter until it is smooth.
- Add the sugar and beat it further, until the mixture turns light and fluffy.
- Add the chocolate sauce and the vanilla essence and beat until the chocolate has mixed into the mixture and the mixture is smooth.
For the assembly:
- Rest the cake on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Spread the frosting over the cake and top it with some choco-chips or fresh bananas.
